The Difference Between Today and Yesterday

Stories - Channing Chen - February 16, 2023

Recently, I listened to a new meditation audio, with a soft female voice guiding me to recall a time when I felt at ease. What was my state of mind during those moments? Why was my environment conducive to relaxation? How do those past times differ from today? Can I recreate those feelings of comfort and ease in the present?

“Will the key unlock my mind”

Stories - Channing Chen - November 23, 2021

Recently I am very interested in absurdism. For example, to avoid rude conversations, I try not to talk to others. It looks like you don’t want things to be a certain way, and in the end, it becomes that way.

I like this perspective, it makes it easier for you to understand some things, those things that are happening. You will find that what is originally reasonable has its contradictions and conflicts.

You work for life, but you invest too much time at work. When you get sick from work, you lose your normal life. When you are at work, if you spend some time doing non-work things, such as thinking, chatting, shopping, you will become a little inefficient, but you have kept your life.

You think learning new knowledge is troublesome, but you find that you always need new knowledge. I have not known a student who likes school, but they are students, right? That’s where they should stay.

And those very profound meanings, what can you see on the back of them? We should fear God, but then we fear people who become God. We should emancipate our minds. Create something that has never been done in human history, and then you discover that it may also be a very bad thing, terrible.

I’m not describing another kind of nihilism. This is understanding and generalization, it has both dialectics and ridicule. Do you remember this? When we used to insult others on the Internet, if it was just a swear word, it was very boring. You need a complicated and interesting logic to describe opinions. Arouse other people’s thinking, and then let them think that your sentence is not boring at first, and the logic is very correct, and there is nowhere to refute it. Well, you did it.

How are you feeling now?

Stories - Channing Chen - August 15, 2021

When I ask you this, I hope you can check your surroundings.

Is the air still so humid here?
Oh, I forgot, you have been here for many years, and you no longer notice this.

But you can feel your skin is moist.
There is some sweat between the skin and clothes. They make you feel sticky. But you know it’s okay after you get the shower.

Your breathing is gentle, after all, you haven’t thought about too complicated things. We are talking about some light topics.

You think the chair is very comfortable. You are crossing your legs and they are a bit stiff. You know someone keeps telling you that this is not a good sitting posture.

You are not sure if you are thirsty, maybe you can wait a little longer.
Well, temporarily, these are all.

I try to bring your thinking back to this moment.
You know, the past will not change, so why let them affect you. But usually, they decide all our reactions.
For example, why don’t you like me? Maybe I am very close to an image you have known in the past. Right?

This is why I want to bring your thinking back to the present. So how are you feeling now?
